Abstract

Adrenaline is a hormone that is produced in the marrow of the adrenal glands, along with noradrenaline, they are known as catecholamines, which are substances that stimulate body cells. Adrenaline can behave as a hormone when poured into the blood and its effect can be longer when it behaves as a neurotransmitter in neuronal synapses, where it has the same function as in other tissues but in a shorter space of time. Both adrenaline and noradrenaline are essential for the body to cope with an emergency or an event that is interpreted by the nervous system as dangerous; therefore, they are considered as vital substances in the sympathetic system, responsible for the physiological activation of the organism when required. Finally, it is important to consider that in exercise and sport the body’s needs are increased and therefore it releases adrenaline to meet the metabolic functions that a person needs to develop these activities. The purpose of this article is to serve as academic support in the subject of Exercise Physiology in the Bachelor of Physical Education.
