Is boldenone, a bovine anabolic, a risk of positive doping?

Abstract

This article makes a review on a current issue that is compromising several of the Colombian athletes who have tested positive for boldenone because they have ingested beef in the days prior to the anti-doping control test. This topic is currently under investigation since it is known that in Colombia the use of this steroid is allowed in cattle up to 30 days before the slaughter of the animal, which must be guaranteed by the national control bodies.

Therefore, this article will initially contextualize what boldenone is and how it acts in the body, followed by the reasons why the use of the hormone in cattle is authorized in Colombia and fnally the impact of giving positive in an anti-doping control test in athletes.
